Labor and Delivery

Birth is empowering. Vaginal birth and Cesarean sections are births. Epidural use in labor is birth.

Labor is very physically, emotionally and mentally demanding. As holistic doctors, our Naturopaths are able to support you not only through your pregnancy, but in your preparation for labor and delivery.

Birth Doula

As a DONA International trained Birth Doula, Dr. Cynthia Hall provides doula services with a strong foundation rooted in medical practices. A primary goal of doula work is to promote coping through labor using various non-medical strategies.

Labor is painful, but that does not mean you have to suffer. We can spend time prenatally discussing the stages of labor, answering questions, compassionately addressing fears and providing further reputable resources. Advocating for your labor is best done before labor starts, and knowing your options is extremely valuable in building your birth plan.

With her doula training, Dr. Hall can also provide suggestions for helpful positions to support labor progression as the baby descends through the pelvic inlet, mid-pelvis and pelvic outlet.

Postpartum and Lactation Support

After labor, focus quickly shifts to your newborn. You are no longer the person you were before your baby. Not only have your priorities changed, but care for yourself sometimes takes a backseat.

Our Naturopathic Doctors are equipped to support your self-care as you navigate your new life, and as your body finds a new balance amid changing hormones. There are more physical changes as you recover from labor: your uterus begins to return to normal size, and your perineum begins to heal. In tandem, hormonal and emotional adjustments naturally occur as you settle into your new life and routine.
